Introducing GroupTube 1.7 – Experimental Apps

With GroupTube 1.7 you can now use experimental GroupTube apps, starting with a shared text editor, an app for whiteboard and a simple TicTacToe game.

New Apps on GroupTube

Apps on GroupTube are tools/games/programs you can use together with others in your group. They provide shared/linked content and make it easy to do things together.

For now, we provide a shared text editor and a shared whiteboarding app. Test them out for working on notes/text together! You can also draw and sketch out anything you want to explain to another person.

GroupTube Apps mark a huge milestone for GroupTube. In the future more apps will be introduced, there will be games, there will be collaborative tools, there will be platforms like Spotify and Twitch, and much more! If you want to suggest an app, email us at hello@group.tube.

Text Editor

The shared text editor is super useful to quickly edit some text together. You can import and export document and see each other's edits in real time.

Edit lesson notes with a classmate, write an email with your coworker, or take notes of in-game cheat codes! 😎

Excalidraw

Excalidraw is your shared digital whiteboard. You can draw anything, the built-in drawing tools make it easy to sketch anything you want!

Explain a formula to a friend, sketch out an idea, super useful for communicating an idea to others!

TicTacToe

You probably know about the game TicTacToe already. It's a very simple game, serving as an experiment. Discovering what is possible and thought-provoking about the future of games on GroupTube.

Imagine playing tabletop games, card games and other social games together with your friends on GroupTube. Seeing each others' reaction while listening to music and playing games together.

📅 What's Next?

Next, similar to the synchronized YouTube player you know and love, we will introduce apps for listening to music on Spotify and watching livestreams on Twitch.

More tools and basic games will be created, testing out the possibilities of apps for the future of GroupTube. We are very excited to see where it takes us!
